Keep reading… I’m Shelby Hohsfield. At times, I was an ex-Mormon, agnostic, a Sunday Christian, want-to-be Buddhist, and a New Age follower, but God had very different plans for me. The whole time I was living in one very big lie- that I was in charge of my own enoughness and my works would save me and my life. Don’t get me wrong, I am all about self-help and personal development, but as a born-again, fully transformed Christian, I learned there is the world’s way, and there is God’s way. It took me 20 years after leaving the Mormon church to finally meet God, and when I did, I would never be the same. To quote CS Lewis, ”The more we get ourselves out of the way and let Him take us over, the more truly ourselves we become.” Mere Christianity. You are enough not because of what you have done but because of what He has done, and He lives through you. In this podcast, we are going to dive into Bible truths explained just for Exmos and New Believer mamas so you never have to feel overwhelmed or question your compass or self-worth again. We talk about social pressures, family struggles, basic Christian beliefs, and God’s amazing grace for you. Shelby grew up in a mixed-faith home and attended the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormon or LDS) church until she was 18. As most people do when they leave the church, 85% actually, Shelby left God altogether when she left the LDS church. It wasn’t until she was pregnant with her son that God was made evident to her. From there sparked a quest to FIND FAITH, a fleeting idea that challenged her at every step. After trying all matters of religion for years, she was struck one night when some big things literally brought her to her knees- When things got super hard, it was the surrender to the one true God that changed everything about Shelby’s life, belief, and understanding of this universe we live in. After a 20-year journey after leaving the church, she finally found faith above. We all start off with such good intentions and right about now most of you have already moved on and forgot all about the plan you were so fired up about. We make mistakes.
But what if you have made bigger mistakes than just eating that amazing breakfast sausage and cheddar sandwich from Starbucks you swore you were not going to eat this year? What if the mistakes you have made are causing you to question if anyone should ever forgive you? What if they are causing you to question your marriage, your worth, your life? Where do you start? Where do you begin trying to make up for all the junk that was so bad?

Just Because we grow up in the Christian faith doesn't mean the faith journey isn't still a winding road. Today, I'm talking to Miranda Lee, a faith-based health and confidence coach. Through learning to love her body despite mental disorders around food and OCD, Miranda fought to learn to love herself and rely on God.
Her relationship with God changed the most when she met the love of her life, her now-husband who had been raised Mormon. He asked questions and forced Miranda to have to do the one thing all Christians should do in order to grow closer to God and be the example He was asking her to be.

What is courage?
Maybe it is the opposite of fear. Strength in the face of all that could derail us. Being brave. The cowardly lion from the wizard of oz was in search of it looking for what he called the nerve. But courage is within all of our grasps. Even the Cowardly Lion is capable of courage.

The dictionary tells us the definition of peace is freedom from disturbance; tranquility. We usually take that as having no chaos in our lives, being free from any heartache, craziness, or difficulty. But what if I was to tell you that true peace happens in the heart? Yes, True peace is the feeling of calm, the feeling of love even in the eye of the storm. What does this mean and how do we get there, that is what today’s episode is all about.
