Keep reading… I’m Shelby Hohsfield. At times, I was an ex-Mormon, agnostic, a Sunday Christian, want-to-be Buddhist, and a New Age follower, but God had very different plans for me. The whole time I was living in one very big lie- that I was in charge of my own enoughness and my works would save me and my life. Don’t get me wrong, I am all about self-help and personal development, but as a born-again, fully transformed Christian, I learned there is the world’s way, and there is God’s way. It took me 20 years after leaving the Mormon church to finally meet God, and when I did, I would never be the same. To quote CS Lewis, ”The more we get ourselves out of the way and let Him take us over, the more truly ourselves we become.” Mere Christianity. You are enough not because of what you have done but because of what He has done, and He lives through you. In this podcast, we are going to dive into Bible truths explained just for Exmos and New Believer mamas so you never have to feel overwhelmed or question your compass or self-worth again. We talk about social pressures, family struggles, basic Christian beliefs, and God’s amazing grace for you. Shelby grew up in a mixed-faith home and attended the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormon or LDS) church until she was 18. As most people do when they leave the church, 85% actually, Shelby left God altogether when she left the LDS church. It wasn’t until she was pregnant with her son that God was made evident to her. From there sparked a quest to FIND FAITH, a fleeting idea that challenged her at every step. After trying all matters of religion for years, she was struck one night when some big things literally brought her to her knees- When things got super hard, it was the surrender to the one true God that changed everything about Shelby’s life, belief, and understanding of this universe we live in. After a 20-year journey after leaving the church, she finally found faith above. Probably one of the most confusing and biggest hangups about God after leaving the LDS church- The Trinity.
We saw pictures as little kids with a gray-haired, old Heavenly Father next to a strapping (very Caucasian) Jesus. We were made in His image, correct? God is a man, correct?
If you are struggling with this, know you are not alone. The trinity has caused debate since the early church- circa 300 AD.
Today we are going to break this all down in the simplest terms from the direction of the early church fathers and the bible.

Okay- this is straight Christian gospel today. This IS in fact, the good news. Did you know that is what the word ‘gospel’ means? The Good News! Today is all about the good news.
Another fun fact- did you know there are not just 10 commandments? In fact, there are 613 spanning over Torah, the old testament. It was God’s 1st covenant with His chosen people- the Israelites- the Jews. He set it up because they needed law. They needed to know what God’s perfect law for them would be.
The law more than anything showed that humankind was in need of a savior.
And that was and is the good news. In a time, when the hope that was in the law from God seemed impossible to uphold, a savior came to save His people.

I love the Bible. One of the absolute coolest things about the Bible is that, like God, time seems to all get blended together. The Prophets of the old testament often had no real concept of what it truly was they were prophesying about from a time standpoint. The first coming, the second coming, or all that is in between often gets folded on top of each other, yet it still sings to our hearts today just as it did 2000 years ago.

What are Spiritual Gifts, Do you Have one and Why should you care?
You have found Jesus.
You realize He has been waiting for you the whole time, and now you are binging these episodes learning who God is, how to live a Christian life, and how to build a stronger relationship with God where Jesus truly knows you and you know Him. You're learning, growing, and living as a Christian woman. It hasn't been easy ditching all those old, bad beliefs about God and religion after leaving the church, but slowly but surely God has held your hand. You still have so much more growth to go, but you know that you know you are transformed, reborn and you belong to God. And now what? You start to get this little tingle. You want to share. Not just a little share, but you want everyone to know God's love. The great commission. The last thing Jesus asked us to do in Mathew 28- bring Jesus and His good news to the world. You are not sure how, but you know He has equipped you in His perfect way. You know you are different since you came to Him, but just how different are you and could this difference of the Holy Spirit in you be more than just a guide? What are Spiritual Gifts, Anyway?
